PADI Adventure Diver Certification

The PADI Adventure Diver Certification is part of PADI's Adventures In Diving program. This program consist of both the Advanced Open Water and Adventure Diver certification.

The PADI Adventure In Diving program provides divers with a structured way to explore other diving interests and increase diving experience. Making an Adventure Dive is many times the first step that novice divers take after their basic certification. However, all divers benefit from the flexibility of the program and like to accomplish new tasks, see different marine life, submerge into other environments and experience new adventures.

The program makes it possible for student divers to customize their Scuba training paths and broaden their awareness of the underwater world and their capabilities as Scuba divers.

Adventure Dives available to divers 10 years old and older:

  • Underwater Naturalist
  • Boat Diver
  • Underwater Navigator
  • Peak Performance Buoyancy
  • Underwater Photography

Adventure Dives available to divers being 12 years and older (including the above):

  • Multilevel Diver
  • Deep Diver
  • Night Diver
  • Search and Recovery Diver
  • Drift Diver
  • Underwater Videography
  • Wreck Diver
  • AWARE Fish ID
  • Peak Performance Buoyancy

Flexibility of The Adventures In Diving Program

Student divers may choose to complete one Adventure Dive at a time in various dive locations or choose to complete all dives for certification with one instructor.

Your instructor will evaluate the students Adventure Dive Training Records to determine which dives are completed and how many more dives are needed to get certified.

The liability release and assumption of risk (certificate of understanding) for the Adventure In Diving program and correlating specialty diver programs is valid for one year from the date the student diver first signed it.

Any Adventure Dive may count as the first dive of the correlating Specialty Course and the first dive of any Specialty Course may count as an Adventure Dive when the student can prove that these dives have been completed and signed by an PADI instructor in their logbook.

Course Pre-requisites

  • Be a certified PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization);

The maximum depth for Any Adventure Dive is 30 metres (100 ft).

For 12-14 years old, the maximum depth for Any Adventure Dive is 21 metres (70 ft)

For 10-11 years old, the maximum depth is 12 metres (40 ft)

After The PADI Adventure Diver Certification

After your PADI Adventure Diver certification you can take the next step by completing two more adventure dives. If you've completed five total adventure dives that include deep and navigation, you have become an PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

PADI Adventure Dives can also count towards PADI Specialty Diver certifications. If you liked your Night Adventure Dive so much that you wanted to take a complete PADI Night Diver Specialty course, your Night Adventure Dive can count as the first dive of that specialty.
